Exercise & Travel

by Duane Campbell

Let’s face it, you’re in the middle of packing, the excitement of being in a new country, that anticipated long overdue vacation, getting stuff ready for the kids, sorting out the finances, finishing off that last report to hand to the boss, making sure everything in the house is done and all the last minute running around. The furthest thing from our list of things to do is to have our exercise routine ready for when we reach our destination.

When we think about exercise and travel things like …. “I need a rest from my routine”, “I’ll get fit when I get back”, “I won’t have any time once I reach” “once I start my shopping I will be too tired”

“I have too many meetings lined up “……………..

Then as quickly as the thought of it came into our heads we tend to dismiss the whole idea.

Well here are some fun and easy ways we can still get to burn those extra calories and in some cases won’t even feel like we are exercising!

WALK & EXPLORE YOUR CITY

Forget the subway, train & cab, if you are staying in the city take out your comfortable shoes, set your watch to track your mileage and begin to explore your surroundings. Check out the unusual names of streets, take note of all the restaurants, shopping spots to visit later, interesting and unusual sites & attractions.  Walk as many side streets and main streets as you can (without getting lost) and when you get back to the hotel you will be surprised how many steps and miles you covered plus extra calories burned.
